Forever Clear BBL® Acne Treatment

Forever Clear BBL

Adolescents and adults with stubborn acne that doesn’t respond to home treatments can get their acne under control with Forever Clear BBL acne treatments. At our Trinity, FL, location, we apply Forever Clear’s specific light wavelengths to clear active acne and the redness and inflammation associated with breakouts. People come to us for acne treatment from Port Richey, Spring Hill, West Tampa, Wesley Chapel, and other Central West Florida cities.

How Does Forever Clear BBL Work?

Forever Clear’s 3-step treatment process delivers broadband light (BBL) energy deep below the skin’s surface. BBL is a more powerful version of intense pulsed light (IPL) that we customize to treat a range of skin concerns. Forever Clear is specifically designed to treat acne.

Breakouts occur when cells in the skin’s upper layer are slow to regenerate, clogging pores and trapping excess oil and bacteria. These conditions cause the development of whiteheads and blackheads. Forever Clear BBL addresses each of these issues.

The 3 steps of the Forever Clear BBL treatment include:

  • A blue light wavelength targets sebaceous (oil-producing) glands and destroys bacteria that cause acne
  • Pulses of yellow light reduce inflammation and redness associated with active acne
  • Gentle, rapid pulses of infrared light create controlled injuries that stimulate the natural healing process, triggering the production of collagen.

Our specialists typically recommend treating acne with a combination of therapies, depending on the type of acne a patient develops. Forever Clear BBL treatments combined with topical or oral medications may be the most effective approach to controlling acne.

Levulan Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

Patients with moderate to severe cystic acne are usually better suited for Levulan PDT treatments. This procedure involves first applying a special photosensitizing agent (Levulan) to the skin. After about an hour, blue-light laser therapy activates the Levulan. PDT with Levulan kills bacteria, unclogs pores, and stems the production of oil from overactive sebaceous glands.

How Many Forever Clear Treatments Are Needed?

Even though many patients notice their complexions start to improve after one treatment, we recommend scheduling a series of 4 to 6 Forever Clear BBL treatment sessions to get optimal results. The treatments should be spaced 2 weeks apart. After the initial treatment series, touch-up treatments can maintain the results and keep acne breakouts at bay. Treatments typically take about 30 to 40 minutes.

How Much Do Forever Clear BBL Treatments Cost?

Because our providers customize treatment plans for each patient, the cost of Forever Clear BBL treatments varies depending on the number of sessions needed and whether the procedures are combined with other acne-fighting treatments. We will discuss your situation in detail during your initial visit and provide a price quote at that time.

What Is the Recovery Like After a Forever Clear Treatment?

Most patients can return to school, work, or other normal daily activities immediately after their treatments. You’ll probably notice some redness in the area targeted by the laser, but that usually dissipates by the end of the day. Makeup can camouflage redness, if desired. It’s important to avoid exposure to the sun’s direct light.

During the first couple of days after a Forever Clear treatment, you’ll probably notice your skin feels dryer than usual. This lack of moisture is because the treatment dries up the excess oil causing your acne. Your skin will continue clearing up after each treatment, and you’ll enjoy the results for months until you need a touch-up procedure.
