Love the Skin You're In
Thread Lift
Are you finding that jowls and loose neck skin make you look older than you feel? These are common aesthetic concerns for women and men, but not everyone has the time to undergo a facelift to address those concerns. At Gulf Coast Medical Center Dermatology & Aesthetics, we offer minimally invasive thread lift for patients from Trinity, Port Richey, and Spring Hill, FL, to elevate sagging skin in the lower face and neck.
What Is a Thread Lift?
A thread lift uses absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) threads to reposition tissue below the skin’s surface and restore a youthful appearance to the face. Surgeons have used PDO threads for non-cosmetic procedures for decades, and the FDA has cleared them for aesthetic treatments. We use durable and flexible MINT™ PDO threads at our practice. These threads have a stronger lifting power compared to other PDO threads and can effectively restore a more youthful facial V shape.
What Happens During a Thread Lift Procedure?
We numb the treatment area to ensure you remain comfortable throughout the minimally invasive procedure. Threads inserted below the skin are lined with small barbs that grasp, lift and suspend the treatment area. As the provider slowly withdraws the needle, they create a suture lift that “gathers” the skin until they achieve the desired effect and can cut off the long ends of the thread. The procedure typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
You will see immediate results, but you’ll also enjoy another benefit from your thread lift procedure: the gradual production of new collagen. The boost in collagen occurs as part of the body’s natural healing process. The new growth forms around the threads, tightening the skin tissue and creating results that can last up to a year or more.
What Are the Benefits of a PDO Thread Lift?
The benefits of a thread lift include:
- Minimal downtime—most patients can return to work within a few days
- Tightened skin and reduced lines and wrinkles
- A more well-defined jawline and smoother neck
- Local anesthetic only
- No incisions
Thread lift patients can also combine the procedure with other skin rejuvenation or anti-wrinkle treatments, such as laser skin resurfacing or BOTOX® and dermal filler injections.
How Much Does a Thread Lift Cost?
Because each patient has unique concerns and our dermatology providers tailor the procedure to address those specific needs, the cost of a thread lift varies. After discussing whether you can benefit from a thread lift, our specialists create a customized treatment plan with a specific cost for the procedure.
What Happens During Recovery After a Thread Lift?
Thread lift patients need little recovery time because of the minimally invasive nature of the procedure. We’ll provide detailed instructions regarding post-treatment care. You’ll need to avoid getting your face wet for at least 12 hours and then gently pat the skin dry in the treatment area.
Side effects such as swelling, bruising, numbness, or tenderness resolve on their own and last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.
