Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers can add fullness to facial areas that have lost definition and enhance facial features like the cheeks, chin, nose, and lips. At our practice locations in Port Richey, Spring Hill, and Trinity, dermal fillers are very popular. Men and women who want to enhance their looks with dermal fillers even visit from Wesley Chapel, West Tampa, and other Central West Florida communities.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected into your face and lips to fill in lines, folds, and hollows or to otherwise enhance facial contours. Certain dermal filler products such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® contain hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies. When HA is introduced to your body, it attracts water and increases hydration levels for smoother and plumper skin.

RADIESSE® is made from calcium hydroxylapatite—a mineral found in human teeth and bones—in a water-based, gel-like solution. The calcium microspheres stimulate the body to produce more of its own collagen. After stimulating collagen growth, the calcium and gel are absorbed by the body over time.

What Facial Concerns Can You Improve With Dermal Fillers?

Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Dermal fillers can smooth out and fill in lines, creases, and hollows on just about every part of your face. If you have fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes and forehead, you may choose to add BOTOX® to your dermal filler treatment to smooth these “dynamic wrinkles.”

Tear Troughs

As you age, you may notice shadows and bags developing under your eyes. Dermal fillers can smooth the under-eye area and give your face a brighter, refreshed look.

Lips

Aging and genetics can result in lips that aren’t as full as you’d like. You can use dermal fillers to subtly plump lips and add some natural-looking shaping.

Marionette Lines and Nasolabial Folds

Dermal fillers can plump up annoying facial lines below each corner of the mouth and on either side of your nose. Filling in marionette and nasolabial folds can give your face a more youthful appearance.

Cheeks

Genetics, aging, and fat loss can cause you to have flat or sagging cheeks. Dermal fillers can add volume to this area for attractive, youthful contours.

Nose

Dermal fillers are a great, nonsurgical way to reshape your nose without extensive downtime. A filler can be used to even out bumps, improve asymmetry, and refine the bridge and tip of your nose.

Dermal Filler FAQs

Am I a good candidate for dermal fillers?

Healthy men and women without known allergies to filler ingredients who want to improve volume loss in the face, lips, and back of the hands are generally good candidates for dermal fillers. The same is true for individuals who want to contour features such as the nose, cheeks, lips, chin, and jawline. Your provider will help you determine if fillers are right for you.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal filler treatments are safe when they use FDA-approved fillers administered by an experienced injector. After the procedure, you should experience only mild swelling, bruising, and redness at the injection site. Your injector will advise you on how to care for your skin after your dermal filler procedure.

How long do dermal fillers last?

How long your dermal filler results last depends on the type of filler used and the area treated. HA fillers such as Restylane and JUVÉDERM can last from 6 months to more than 2 years. Sculptra results can last for several years. Your provider will advise you on how long your dermal filler results should last and how to maintain them with scheduled touch-ups.

How can I maintain my dermal filler results?

The best way to maintain your filler results is to get touch-up treatments before your results have completely gone away. Touch-ups require less filler and help you look your best without interruption. You can make the most of your filler results by caring for your skin, protecting it from the sun, and keeping it hydrated.

Will I get better results with dermal fillers or BOTOX®?

Choosing between dermal fillers or BOTOX depends on the types of lines you have on your face and neck. If your lines are related to volume loss, they can be improved by dermal fillers. If you have expression lines, called “dynamic wrinkles,” on your face and neck, you may be a better candidate for BOTOX treatments.
